Every morning, before the world speaks to you, a quiet question is already waiting.

Not in words.
Not in logic.
But in orientation.

Who will lead today?

Ego or Spirit.

Fear or Faith.

Reaction or Response.

You do not choose this once. You choose it again and again, in the tone of your thoughts, in the stories you tell yourself, in the way you interpret events, in the meaning you assign to obstacles, in the courage you allow yourself to feel.

If you could see what "memories" of the past actually look like in your brain, you'd see electrical sparks. Synaptic firings. The resulting images are an illusion, like those found in the light projected onto a movie screen. They're not actually occurring in the here or now. It's already happened, in the past, which doesn't exist in reality. It's a story you're recreating only in the mind. A narrative you're deciding to tell yourself.

To remember is to literally rebuild the details from scratch again. And again. And again.

There are stories that bring light, life and love within you. A smile to the heart. And there are stories that generate feelings of hell. Terror or sadness. Both stories, though, are false. Not in the sense that they did or didn't happen. But in the sense that they already happened.

Ego demands misery. Fealty to hell. It creates a sort of addiction to negative emotions. To the ego, the idea of rewriting the negative narratives would be disingenuous. It likes to keep people prisoner with thoughts like, "the past is what makes me who I am today."

Spirit knows that we're made in the image of "I Am that which I Am"; "I will be that which I will be."

After the statement "I am" there's a blank line. And you don't have to write anything on it.

Spirit knows that in truth we are future-present. Never past-present.

You are what you will be.
You are free from the past.

The stories that don't serve you, the synaptic firings that harm you, are enemies within. They serve only to limit the unlimited of who you actually are in Spirit. So rewrite it.

"Re-member" the story as you want.

Good memories. Bad memories. Both are false truths. So renew the mind with a new false truth. One built out of the stuff of Spirit. One that serves you. That heals you.

Life does not ask you to be perfect. It asks you to be present. To live consciously. To decide.

Not to have the past decide for you. But to take responsibility for your mind. To allow it the ability to see an unlimited future, without synaptic firings distorting the image. Scrambling the signal.

The Tree of Life is one of many representations of the rhythm of life. A way of remembering, in ordinary moments, that you are not a victim of circumstances. You are a participant in creation.

Every thought is a seed.
Every emotion is a signal.
Every action is a declaration.

Ego says, "Protect yourself."
Spirit says, "Become yourself."

Ego says, "Stay where it's safe."
Spirit says, "Grow where it's true."

Ego says, "You are what has happened to you."
Spirit says, "You are what you choose now."

This is the daily miracle.

That no matter what you were handed, no matter what you endured, no matter what you've done, you still wake up with the power to choose again. To return to a clean slate.

You may not control the event. But you always control the response. And in that response, your life is written. A brushstroke is painted on the clean canvas of a new day. A new thought. A new memory. A better future.

Some days, the choice will feel easy.
Some days, it will feel like work.
Some days, it will feel like a battle.

But it will always be yours.

You are not here to escape your past. You are here to redeem it.

You are not here to merely survive. You are here to become. To thrive.

The path does not demand certainty. It asks only for willingness.

To pause.
To notice.
To choose.

Again.

And again.

And again.

This is how a life is changed.

Not in a moment. But in a direction.
